In this project The Evaluator measures impact across the following four key project aims: confidence, wellbeing, resilience and work-readiness. We have provided bespoke, quantitative measurement tools including ‘The Journey Back to Work Road Map,’ and the ‘Rose Parker Resilience Scale,’ which are very quick and easy for the team to implement.

Positive Progressions is one of earliest clients, and we are still working together. They have consistently been identified as one of the leading examples of good practice in evaluation for all Building Better Opportunities projects across the North of England.

Evaluation of the National Festival of Making, North, funded by Arts Council England

In this project The Evaluator measures economic impact, audience experience and artistic quality of the whole festival including pre-project activities. Darren Henley, Chief Executive of the Arts Council, was so impressed with our sticker board method of using the metrics, that he took pictures of the evaluation system, explaining that he’d share this idea with all the National Portfolio Organisations. The Evaluator has been recommissioned to provide further evaluation services for Deco Publique including both the National Festival of Making and Vintage by the Sea.

Figuring out how to measure improvements for people living with dementia as a value to society

Social Return on Investment (SROI) Love to Move, National Programme, funded by Sport England

The Evaluator carried out a Social Return on Investment (SROI) as a full report and infographic summary. An SROI is a structured process used to measure the change, in people’s own words, which then puts a value on that change. This helped the team understand the impact of their groundbreaking dementia project.

Figuring out how to measure what a hill is worth

We wanted to work out ‘what the hill is worth’ and this creative response has really captured the imagination of participants, health professionals and environmentalists. Kirsty is always positive about finding a solution and enthuses partners and decision makers alike. We have all loved the project, particularly how it has responded to the coronavirus lockdown this Spring.”

When we were asked to figure out What’s a Hill Worth? And does being more connected to nature have an impact on health and wellbeing? We designed a year-long project, including measuring how helping people connect to the changes in nature affects happiness and health. We re-wrote the seasons; and in 2020 they change every 4 or 5 days. We share these changes with a large group of ‘seasonal seekers’ who also take part in wellbeing assessments in this intensive but fun research project.

Leeds City Council is the partnership lead for Stronger Families which is a Building Better Opportunities project. This £7million+ project across West Yorkshire is co-financed by the National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund. One of the requirements of the funding was to produce measurable policies on Cross-Cutting Themes. In this case the policies needed to include numbers and show progress towards agreed targets for both Sustainability and Equality. Since creation, our policies have passed a 125 audit and we were recommissioned to continue to provide their cross-cutting themes policies.
